Cyprus Sambo Federation is the official representative of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) in Cyprus.
The Cyprus sambo federation was established in 2011. Marios Andreou is the President of the federation, bronze prize-winner of the world championship in 2001 in Krasnoyarsk (Russia). He was graduated from the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism.
Sambo has been actively developing in Cyprus. Athletes regularly take part in the world and European championships. The Cyprus Olympic Committee officially recognised the Cyprus sambo federation in 2012.
There was the international sambo seminar in Cyprus in 2014, 6 representatives of Cyprus took part in the education programme. The European sambo championship among youth and juniors had been held for the first time in Limassol (Cyprus) in 2013. The competition gathered 233 athletes from 19 countries. In December 2014 the world championship among cadets (boys and girls 15-16 years old) and the world championship among students had been organised in Cyprus.
