The third event of the La Sportiva Mountain Madness trail race series will be held at 7pm on Saturday July 26 along a circular 17km course starting from the famous Byzantine Panagia Asinou church near the village of Nikitari.
The race begins on jeep track, then tracks along a beautiful forest trail up a ridge before descending down to the village of Ayios Theodorus, where the one and only aid station/checkpoint of the race will be situated.
From here the course follows a jeep track that winds up and up the mountain, offering runners great views of the sun sinking into the Mediterannean off Morphou Bay, before finally dipping down again to Asinou church and the finish line.
There will also be a 2km family fun run for all ages starting at 7.10pm.
PRIZES AND SURPRISES: The first man and first woman home will each win funky Buff® multi-functional headwear donated by the Get Out adventure sports store in Nicosia. The last person home will receive the Lanterne Rouge bubbly, in the tradition of the Tour de France. All race FINISHERS will receive collectable event beer mugs to celebrate their success with, and all race ENTRANTS will receive 15% discount vouchers for purchases at Get Out. We will also have our popular lucky draw prizes — all donations welcome 🙂
START/REGISTRATION: The race will start PROMPTLY at 7pm. Registration will take place from 5.30pm at Asinou church, with a race briefing at 6.40pm. Cost is 5 euros per runner.
